There aren't many, but *please* adhere to the following...
1. You *may* submit a negative review, but back up your statements. Tell us *why* you didn't like a particular zine or story. Don't just say "It sucked." That's a sure-fire way to *not* get it posted. If you don't think the "characterization" is right, state why and give statements to back up your views. Don't just say, "femme Blair", for instance and expect it to be self-explanatory. Back It Up!
2. Please submit reviews in MS Word format if at all possible. If not, regular e-mail reviews will still be accepted. Word format is just much easier to format and gets things updated faster.
3. State whether or not permission is given to add your e-mail address with your review. This saves time--or I *will* be knocking on your mailbox for permission to post.
4. Include the following info if possible (if not otherwise stated on this site):
Name of press
Number of pages
Color cover by
Color interior art by
B & Winterior art by
Type of binding
Title of story/stories
Name of author
Page numbers for each story
Why should the zine be purchased? (positives)
Why *shouldn't* the
zine be purchased? (negatives)
5. If you're a Publisher--don't be a diva if you don't like a review. People have a right to their opinions.
And as webmaster, I promise to present accurate information when at all possible and will do everything in my power to make sure the links, prices, agents, etc. are up-to-date. But I'm not perfect. If you as a publisher have updates--please include me in your posts. I'll get to the new info as soon as I can.
6. If you're a Reviewer--don't get pissy if the publisher responds with a positive reviewer for posting. It's only fair.
And to reviewers--I will not in any way alter your reviews, except in the case of mis-spellings. If I receive a review with known inaccurate information, I will bring it to you attention, offering you the option of correcting it to reflect accurately the facts. I believe in free speech. Excercise your right and SEND REVIEWS!
7. This site is *not* for starting a war. It's here to help prospective buyers/readers make informed choices by presenting as many facts as possible. Remember, there are two sides to each coin.
8. Corrections--Should
any information appear that is incorrect or a writer prefers their name not
be given--just send an e-mail and the information will be modified or removed
as per the written request. This may *only* be requested by the zine publisher
or the author. Modification will be made as time allows.
These rules may have to be modified as time goes on. I hate to have to do this but I think it might help keep things moving and will cut down on any questions and/or missing information.
None of what is stated here is directed to any one person/party. It's just in general after months of having to play peacemaker between publishers and reviewers..
Thanks,
The Loft Library Webmaster
